Estrella Vázquez is a member of the Muxe community, a group of indigenous transgender women living in southern Mexico, and she is the first indigenous Mexican transgender woman to grace the cover of Vogue. She has worked as a textile artisan since the age of 10, specializing in creating traditional crafts of the region using multicolored threads. Estrella is also a choreographer and designer for social events. Recently, she was invited to participate as a professional model and also for the filming of a movie. Estrella is an icon and a symbol for two minorities in Mexico: indigenous communities and transgender women.
